I had a really happy time. First, I could play card games and chat with people from other countries, and second,
we had a chance to cook. Next time I hope I can speak a bit more English, but it was a very precious time.

When I decided to join this programme I thought it was gonna be boring. But when we arrived, I was surprised because the place was so wonderfully beautiful and surrounded by nature. It was lovely being there and I just thought I didn’t want to go home again.
Also, it was a fun experience when we had to explore the place and my group went in the wrong direction and when we looked at the map, we were right off the map!!! But thanks to the path we could find the way back. On the last night we made a fire at the beach. I think it was a precious and amazing experience. Thanks ESL…
KO’s Report
The training camp I did this term with the English Support lounge was a chance to brush up my skill, and a big step to helping me to learn to communicate in English and in that way to build myself up as a person.??
One thing that I ought to reflect on a bit is that I wasn’t able to communicate with people all that fully.
The three days were a good chance to take a look at my own strengths and weaknesses. If there is another trip like this next year, I definitely want to participate in that, too.
KU’s Report
It was a good closing experience before graduating. It was a special experience that I won’t forget in a hurry. Again, thanks for the preparations, everyone, and thanks for the friendship.
My most powerful memory is of that sky full of shining stars. That was quite something. But everything from the stay will be a nostalgic memory.
Y’s Report
The memories I like best were enjoying the natural scenery around the hotel.
On the morning of the second day, we played a compass game. It was very
difficult for me at first, because I hadn’t used a compass since I was a
child. But I remembered how to use it soon enough. I had great
expectations of myself as an explorer.
After the compass game, we went on a walk around the same area, and
enjoyed a nature quiz. There were ponds, marsh, forest and shore
habitats. In this area, there is a species of turtle called a
“kusagame.” The name means “stink turtle” and comes from its bad smell.
When the stink turtle is surprised he lets out a stink like a skunk. It
was a very funny story. We all had to laugh.
Late that night we enjoyed a campfire at the beach. The whole place was
in complete darkness. In the sky we could see thousands of stars like
diamonds. The constellation they formed by opened up an imaginary world
to us. Mr Bray showed his skills at lighting a driftwood fire. It was
very cold but we were happy. We felt we were communicating with nature.
And the next day from the hill we enjoyed a fine view of Ago Bay. The
sea was a beautiful blue. Behind us on the hill we found an Inari
shrine. I felt it looked similar to the Inari shrine that appeared in My
Neighbor Totoro film. The theme of that film was the splendor of nature,
too.
Ise has been a region of many shrines since most ancient times in Japan.
I thought it was a curious coincidence.
I enjoyed the English short time trip in Ise very much.
